Charité – Campus Virchow-Klinikum
The Campus Virchow-Klinikum is located in the Berlin district of Wedding. The site traces its origins to the former Rudolf Virchow Hospital, which was built between 1898 and 1906 at the initiative of Rudolf Virchow as a pavilion-style hospital. Despite later structural changes, the protected historic ensemble, the park-like setting and the combination of historic and modern hospital buildings continue to shape the character of the campus today.
Following its integration with Charité in 1997/1998, the campus has been part of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Today, the site combines university medicine, research and teaching with specialised medical facilities.
Key medical areas include gynaecology, paediatrics and adolescent medicine, cancer medicine and cardiovascular medicine. The campus is home to the Department of Cardiology, Angiology and Intensive Care Medicine of the Deutsches Herzzentrum der Charité. Its location in Berlin-Wedding provides good access to public transport and central areas of the city.
