  • 2004 - 2017: Director of the Department of Nephrology and Hypertensiology at Universitätsklinikum Erlangen and Klinikum Nürnberg and head of the Erlangen-Nürnberg Transplant Centre
  • Since 2017: Director of the Medical Department, Division of Nephrology and Internal Intensive Care Medicine at the Charité

Diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases (e.g. chronic kidney disease, acute renal failure, glomerular nephritis, polycystic kidney diseases, vasculitis, tubulopathies, kidney stone diseases, rare kidney diseases) Kidney transplants (preparation and after-care, live kidney donation, including in cases of non-compatible blood groups, kidney transplants in combination with other organs)
All forms of renal replacement therapy, including haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis Intensive care medicine (treatment of all forms of organ failure, sepsis, multiple organ failure, mechanical organ replacement, ECMO)
