Advanced Medicine

The Department of Neurosurgery treats complex conditions affecting the brain, spine and peripheral nervous system, with particular expertise in neuro-oncology, vascular neurosurgery, spinal surgery and paediatric neurosurgery. Advanced techniques such as cranial and spinal neuronavigation, endoscopy, intraoperative fluorescence, ICG angiography and neurophysiological monitoring are used in modern operating theatres.

In orthopaedics and joint replacement, the hospital provides modern surgical and conservative treatments for diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system. The ENDO Clinic Berlin at Helios Klinikum Berlin-Buch performs around 2,000 hip and knee replacement operations each year. The medical spectrum is complemented by trauma and hand surgery; as a certified supra-regional trauma centre, the hospital treats patients with injuries of all severities.

A key oncological focus is tumour orthopaedics at the Berlin-Brandenburg Sarcoma Centre, where rare bone and soft tissue tumours are diagnosed and treated by interdisciplinary teams. The centre is one of the specialist facilities for sarcoma care and is part of the European EURACAN network for rare adult tumours.

The Berlin-Buch Oncology Centre brings together comprehensive cancer diagnosis and treatment through interdisciplinary tumour boards and certified cancer centres. These include the Breast Centre, Colorectal Cancer Centre, Skin Cancer Centre, Prostate Cancer Centre, Centre for Haematological Neoplasms, and specialised units for colorectal and pancreatic cancer.
