Potsdamer Platz

Just a few steps from the Brandenburg Gate, Potsdamer Platz is one of the most architecturally impressive places in the heart of Berlin. Where a vast wasteland once symbolised the divided city, a modern urban quarter emerged after reunification.

Following its extensive redesign, The Playce opened in 2022 and now brings together shopping, dining and entertainment at Potsdamer Platz. Here, visitors will find innovative concepts such as Upside Down Berlin, Lane7 and the Conscious Fashion Store by Peek & Cloppenburg.

The elegant Mall of Berlin impresses with around 200 shops and a large food court — a popular destination for shopping in Berlin in any weather. Another architectural highlight is Das Center am Potsdamer Platz, formerly the Sony Center, with its striking, highly visible tent-like roof.

Friedrichstrasse/Unter den Linden

Friedrichstraße is one of Berlin’s most important north-south arteries, impressively connecting the historic East and West of the city. The world-famous Checkpoint Charlie, once a major border crossing, is now one of Berlin’s most visited landmarks. Despite the temporary closure of some luxury malls, the street still offers a wealth of shopping opportunities – from fashion and premium brands like Rolex, Boss and Max Mara to fine chocolatiers such as Ritter Sport, Rausch, Läderach and Sawade.

At the intersection with Unter den Linden begins Berlin’s oldest grand boulevard. It stretches from the Brandenburg Gate to the reconstructed Berlin Palace, home to the Humboldt Forum. Along the way, visitors will also find the Upper Eastside retail complex, the NIVEA Haus, and showrooms by Volkswagen and Bugatti.
