Potsdamer Platz

Potsdamer Platz is Berlin’s most modern shopping district. Previously a vacant plot of land, an entirely new quarter was built here following the reunification of Berlin. Situated between skyscrapers and brand new modern buildings, you will find the Potsdamer Platz Arkaden, the new Mall of Berlin with some 270 shops, and the futuristic Sony Center, whose spectacular tent-shaped roof is visible from afar.

Friedrichstrasse/Unter den Linden

One of the city’s longest streets running from north to south, Friedrichstrasse linked the former East and West Berlin, Checkpoint Charlie marking the transition point between the two. The only European branch of “Galeries Lafayette” outside France, with its international fashion, extensive range of accessories and gourmet food hall, is to be found on Friedrichstrasse.

At the intersection with “Unter den Linden”, you find yourself on Berlin’s oldest grand boulevard, running from the Brandenburg Gate to the newly built Berlin City Palace. Unter den Linden is home to the Upper Eastside Berlin shopping complex, the Nivea Haus and the showrooms of cars such as VW and Bugatti. There are also numerous souvenir shops here.
