Medical Park Berlin Humboldtmühle

A specialized centre for neurological disorders, orthopaedics, internal medicine and cardiology, Medical Park Berlin Humboldtmühle is situated on the banks of Lake Tegel. The hospital is equipped with the very latest medical technology and eight intensive care beds for patients suffering from acute neurological conditions. Interdisciplinary cooperation ensures patient-centred diagnosis, treatment and care during rehabilitation and follow-up treatment. Congenital and acquired diseases of the brain, spine, peripheral nervous system and muscles are treated at the Department of Neurology. The hospital’s Stroke Centre offers a seamless chain of multi-professional rehabilitation, from intensive care to phases B, C and D. The Department of Orthopaedics, Trauma Surgery and Sports Medicine provides the complete spectrum of diagnosis, therapy and rehabilitation. The Department of Internal Medicine/Cardiology treats in particular patients who have undergone cardiac valve or bypass surgery, and those who have suffered a heart attack. Advanced Medicine

For patients, the close collaboration between the three departments of neurology, orthopaedics and internal medicine/cardiology has the advantage that they receive a holistic and interdisciplinary course of treatment. As a result, any concomitant diseases or associated conditions – such as a heart attack following a knee operation – can easily be treated at the same time.

One of the key elements on the road to regaining independence, e.g. after a stroke, is ADL training (Activities of Daily Living). This involves gradually refamiliarizing patients with normal activities in their daily lives; they practise getting in and out of a car, for example, and relearn all the actions involved in supermarket shopping, so that they are able to cope with everyday life on their own again in the shortest possible time.

An extensive course of exercise training, individualized therapy options such as locomotion training, a gymnasium and even a swimming pool, complete the full range of treatment on offer.
